Apple iPhone Not Ready for Malaysia

In a news report by Bernama, Sandip Das (Maxis CEO) commented

As and when Apple decides to finalise its plans for Malaysia, Maxis hopes to be one of the operators to offer the iPhone.

This means that all operators have made their proposals to Apple to be their preferred partner when iPhone is to be launched in Malaysia and Maxis may or may not be that operator.  Celcom has joined the race to bid for this partnership.  Apple’s strategy is to have one operator per country of choice.  Who knows, instead of Maxis, it could be Celcom.

For the moment, we can only envisage parallel imported 3G iPhones, probably from Singapore.  Watch the local PDA and phone counters carrying these babies very soon!
