Special Branch Warning on ISIS-like Threat in Malaysia

A few days ago, the Malaysia Special Branch gave a public warning on the real and serious threat of ISIS affecting Malaysia anticipated to be done by Malaysian Muslims who were recruited to fight in ISIS against other Malaysians. Malaysia is a country who will not simply give any such warnings because such news may cause upheaval if wrongly understood.

What the Special Branch said in a carefully worded interview is a wakeup call for all Malaysians who see ISIS as a threat to our way of life in this beloved country. The analysis is that this threat is so serious now that the Police has no choice but to warn the people ahead of time because if this threat is allowed to be made real, it will be an overthrow of our Government and the people who do not subscribe to their advances.

The article was carried by The Sun Daily here.

Najib in Gaza – Good for Him, Bad for Malaysia

Yesterday, our PM Najib visited Gaza via Egypt. He and Rosmah are both conferred honorary doctorates by the Al-Aqsa University. This is a historic visit as Najib is the FIRST non-Arab country leader to visit Gaza. So, Malaysia Boleh! (for the wrong reasons?)

While the local news celebrate Najib’s curious visit to Gaza on so-called humanitarian grounds and symbolic of Malaysia’s support of the Palestinian plight, President Mahmoud Abbas of Palestine expresses REGRET that this visit was made (read here).

Apparently, Najib visited Gaza’s PM Ismail Haniyeh but snubbed President Mahmoud Abbas of West Bank. In fact, Mahmoud Abbas is the overall representative leader of the Palestinians. Mahmoud Abbas is from the Fatah Front and Haniyeh is from the Hamas Front. Both groups do not see eye-to-eye. Hamas is viewed by many as the more militant of the two groups although both are equally volatile.

Double Standard Condemnation – Israel vs Hamas

Today, we read in The Malaysian Insider that the Pakatan Rakyat has called on Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to convene an emergency sitting of the Dewan Rakyat to discuss Israel’s unlawful invasion of Palestine (read here).

By looking at the very potent attacks of Israel, Palestinian officials have put casualty rates at 500+, so reports CNN tonight.  Possibly inflated to obtain world sympathy, this is a very serious loss of life still.

An excellent article by Michael Lerner (read here) gives an insightful and balanced understanding and the rabbi expresses his sadness to the loss of life both sides of the divide.

Although we only see widespread rallies in condemnation against Israel’s bombing and now ground attack of the Gaza strip against Hamas, we have never seen any whimper of opposition when Hamas broke the ceasefire and launched rocket attacks at Israel’s populated areas in early December.  Perhaps the world never knew that Hamas has been attacking Israel for many weeks prior to this.
