Gadgets and Devices to Watch For in 2013

2013 is surely a year where there are major product launches. And these new devices and gadgets are also milestone products and worthy of serious consideration if you are looking for an upgrade to your own stable.

For gamers, prepare for the fight of the year where Sony and Microsoft will be launching new flagship products in their Playstation 4 and Xbox One respectively this coming Christmas.

For gadgets and devices geeks and enthusiasts, you will be spoilt for choices like never before. Worthy of consideration is Sony’s Xperia Z Ultra which is pushing the phone/tablet or phablet to a beautiful 6.4-inch display packed with the best Sony can offer.

For notebooks or tablets (noteblets?) which will be in a hybrid design now, 2013 will bring you the best of both worlds from Samsung in their Ativ Q and Apple in a speculated MacBook Pro refresh.

It has been a few years since Sony and Microsoft have brought out a major refresh of their superb gaming machines. 2013 is the milestone for Playstation 4 and Xbox One, both touted to be even better than their predecessors. Both companies are keeping their products mysteriously exciting and building their product availability with teasing information. So far, they have been very effective and if you are looking for new ways of playing HD games, you will not be disappointed by these babies.

Sony is making a huge comeback into the mobile and tablet scene with their Xperia Z range of smartphone and tablet. Weatherproof and water resistant, their design has been exquisite to behold. More interestingly, Sony has bested Samsung’s Galaxy Mega with their Xperia Ultra phablet. It is in the same weather and water proof housing design but different material, sleek and beautiful, but packs a HD+ screen, highest today in the tablet world as well as Snapdragon’s 800 mega powerful processors. It will make the Xperia Ultra the most powerful phone cum tablet in the world. And it comes with a bluetooth ear set companion that pairs for phone and music so you can avoid putting the 6.4-inch baby to your ear when you make a call.

The best of notebook and tablet is when the two meets and lives as one. The waiting is over in 2013. Samsung is out first with their Ativ Q which sports a 13-inch HD+ touch panel and supports both Windows 8 and Android simultaneously with an attached keyboard hinged to enable multiple forms of usage. You can now have a full fledged Intel i5 Haswell to run all your Windows apps and also launch Android apps on the Windows screen or a dedicated Android environment. You just cannot get better than that when it is also extremely light to carry around.

Coming quickly behind Samsung’s heels is Apple but always being secretive of their products before they are launched. The speculation here is their new MacBook Pro and in particular the 13-inch model with Retina display and possibly a full 10-finger touch panel like an oversized iPad as the screen. The reason being that Apple has recently filed an all new touch panel design for a patent which many speculate will find its way to the MacBook Pro. With just the SSD and possibly Haswell chipset, it is very light and powerful to run the latest OSX Maverick. Watch out for this and see how much of this is found in the actual product.
